Personality & Traits

General Overview Vesper, or Eva as she is known to others, is the kind of woman who can be called cool, calm and calculating. She has a keen mind and isn't afraid to ask difficult questions, knowing better than to take everything at face value. She keeps calm under pressure and has both determination and drive. She is the kind of woman who gets more and more quiet and clipped the angrier she gets. She's loyal to those she calls friends and would go the extra mile to help out someone she respects. Eva always enjoys a challenge, either physical or mental, but doesn't always know when it's time to call it quits.
Hobbies & Interests Training, films, reading historical novels, boating, swimming, fencing, horseback riding

Personal History Not much is known of her background. Born into an aristocratic family as Vesper Drake, she was brought up at home for the first years of her life. She was sent to a boarding school for girls as soon as she reached 5 years old, to focus her into learning and academia from an early age.

A couple of years later, both of her parents were killed in an accident while she was at school. She was informed and took it quietly. She seemed to show few outward signs of reaction to the news. While it became uncertain what would happen with her, she inherited everything, becoming a very wealthy little girl, but with no family to take her in.

It was decided by a close friend of her parents, Commander Nathanial Ash, that she should be kept in boarding school as the simplest solution. She remained in that environment right up until she was 18, becoming an intelligent young woman with a good academic record and athletic to match, even if she'd been closed off and restricted in her upbringing.

On one of Nathanial’s visits, he pointed out she needed to think about her future, and soon. He suggested that her marks were good enough to get her into Starfleet tryouts, assuring her that it was a good option for anyone unsure what to do as it offered many different paths. He himself had joined without knowing what, exactly, he wanted to do. Without any other plans or thoughts on the future, Vesper applied for the Academy, deciding that if it had done well for Ash, it would work for her too.

She performed well during her first year at the Academy, and it soon became clear Ash was keeping an eye on her. He talked with her at the end of that first year, pleased with her marks and progressing skills. He persuaded her that she should follow the Intelligence route, as he had done, and as her parents had.

Vesper trusted him to know what would suit her best and agreed. The following three years were hard, and sometimes even gruelling with their specific training, but she showed a natural sense of determination and steel to get through it. In all, it wasn’t an enjoyable experience for her.

As she graduated and was put into service, Ash made sure that Vesper worked under him in Starfleet Intelligence. He finally told her more about her parents, that they had worked in the same unit as him and lost their lives during a mission. She tried to find out more but found no answers.

She decided to change her name to the less conspicuous Eva Grey and poured all her energy and focus into her work. Eva’s career became everything to her and she developed into a talented field operative, her skills proving particularly suited to infiltration and cover work. She was also good at the cardinal rule; talking her way out of trouble. Cool to the point of cold under pressure, she proved to be a formidable agent.

Eva’s transfer to a regular Starfleet ship came after an argument with Nathanial Ash, and it was fair to say she was fuming. However, she soon found her skills could be put to good use in a ship’s intelligence department and she dedicated herself to it with the same focus and dedication.
